Museveni rejects fuel transport on Lake Victoria at Kampala Storage Terminal groundbreaking, Mpigi

President Yoweri Museveni, presiding over the groundbreaking of the 320-million-litre Kampala Storage Terminal at Namwabula in Mpigi District, said he opposed moving petroleum products across Lake Victoria because of the risk of a spill, and favoured pipelines and railways instead. According to URN, Energy Permanent Secretary Irene Pauline Batebe said the terminal is meant to strengthen strategic reserves, and UNOC and Vitol have until September 2028 to complete it.
