President Yoweri Museveni took the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on 12 May, beginning a new five-year term; the day was declared a public holiday. The Daily Monitor reports heavy security across Kampala and early crowds of NRM supporters, many of whom were stranded at the entrance after security declared the venue full. The paper also reports that at least 15 Heads of State attended, and that supporters celebrated in Kampala and in Rukungiri town.
