Mwanga II Magistrates Court orders NIRA, Prisons and UNEB to release accused's data in Kayanja case

Justice & Court Rulings Single source Kampala 11 Dec 2025 Severity: 1/5

A Grade One Magistrate at Mwanga II Magistrates Court granted prosecution requests directing NIRA, the Murchison Bay Prison officer-in-charge, a primary school headteacher and UNEB to provide records on Ssentongo Reagan, one of nine youths accused of fabricating evidence against Pastor Robert Kayanja. Defence lawyers had objected that releasing his confidential data lacked justification and safeguards; the magistrate ruled that access would not harm the accused because the information is already held by public bodies, according to Nile Post.
