At a press briefing in Kampala, National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) president Joseph Kabuleta announced the indefinite suspension of National Executive Council members Moses Matovu and Charles Basaija, saying they had joined the DP and PLU respectively and were no longer party members. Mr Matovu called the suspension illegal, denied defecting, and said he had only supported a DP candidate. The Electoral Commission urged parties to resolve internal disputes through their constitutions or the courts.
Disputed: Kabuleta says Matovu and Basaija defected to the DP and PLU, while Matovu denies defecting and says the suspension is illegal because Kabuleta was himself under suspension; Basaija declined to comment.
