NRM youth leaders allege irregularities and unfair disqualifications in National Youth Council elections

At a media briefing in Kampala, NRM-affiliated youth leaders, including Lira District Youth Chairperson Daniel Moro and Jinja City youth chairperson Isaac Suubi, said the recently concluded National Youth Council elections were marred by favouritism, financial influence and repeated postponements. Grace Nuwahereza Beshekyesa, a UNSA representative to the NYC, said she and other UNSA delegates had their nomination forms rejected two hours before the deadline after the organisers received a call from the NRM Electoral Commission. The leaders said their petitions to the NRM Secretariat had gone unanswered and warned they could back independent candidates.
