NRM's Fred Ruhindi declared winner of Nakawa East seat over jailed NUP candidate Mufumbiro

Kampala Returning Officer Rashid Hasakya declared former Deputy Attorney General Fred Ruhindi (NRM) the winner of the Nakawa East parliamentary seat after the 15 January polls, defeating NUP's Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, who was in jail and held no rallies. Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi alleged that Mufumbiro's victory was stolen; Ruhindi called the outcome legitimate.
