NUP deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro taken by military personnel near Kawempe court

NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi said deputy spokesperson and Nakawa East aspirant Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro was forcibly put into a car by military personnel as he left Kawempe Magistrate's Court and taken to an unknown place. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest and said he would be taken to court, while UPDF spokesperson Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye declined to discuss abductions, saying government does not abduct its own people.

Disputed: NUP describes a violent abduction by the military to an unknown place, police describe it as an arrest with a court appearance to follow, and the UPDF spokesperson declined to address it.
