Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa announced that a village registration exercise linked to Senior Presidential Adviser Peace Rugambwa, which collected details from national identity cards, would be suspended until after the elections. According to ChimpReports, the decision followed a meeting at Rushoroza Cathedral with Kabale Diocese leaders, who had earlier told Christians not to take part because the purpose and legality of the exercise had not been explained.
