Kasambya County MP David Kabanda, speaking for Patriotic League of Uganda chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, said PLU-aligned MPs would support the Administration of Parliament (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks a procedure for removing the Leader of the Opposition. At the same briefing he said PLU would not field candidates against the NRM in the coming Local Council elections, dismissed UPC President Jimmy Akena's call for Gen. Kainerugaba to resign, and made allegations against former minister Betty Amongi that, according to URN, he did not support with evidence. Akena declined to comment directly.
