The Daily Monitor reports that police and the military fired tear gas into arcades along Ben Kiwanuka and Kikuubo lanes to disperse traders who kept shops closed in protest over taxes, while traders threw stones and other objects at officers. Police said at least 13 traders were arrested, 11 for inciting violence and two for assaulting officers; the paper reports some traders were dragged out bleeding.
