Police impound 178 taxis in Kampala on first day of 'Operation Ganyegenya'

Traffic police said they impounded 178 public service vehicles judged to be in dangerous mechanical condition in the Kampala Metropolitan Police area on the first day of a 100-day operation led by the Ministry of Works and Transport. The Daily Monitor reported passengers stranded at the old and new taxi parks that evening, and a Wakiso taxi park chairperson said operators were not given enough time to repair their vehicles.
