Police said they arrested Apac Municipality mayor Patrick Ongom Eyul (UPC) and independent mayoral candidate Andrew Awany at about 10am on polling day, accusing them of making statements on local radio that incited violence. North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the two were held at Apac Central Police Station, saying candidates were not allowed to campaign or speak to the media on polling day.
