Porter shot dead under unclear circumstances at Kalerwe market, Kampala

According to vendors quoted by The Observer, a porter at Kalerwe market was shot dead at around 1 a.m. on Saturday in what appeared to them to be a security operation in which several other people were arrested. Vendors said the circumstances of the shooting were unexplained and that police did not respond to calls to collect the body until the morning. A market chairperson said police owed the community an explanation of how and why he was shot.
