Uganda Prisons Service spokesperson Frank Baine confirmed that Dr Lina Zedriga, remanded to Gulu Main Prison, was transferred over the weekend to the female section of Luzira Maximum Prison. Baine said the transfer was for security reasons stated on the transfer warrant but declined to give details, and denied claims that the army or police influenced it.
Disputed: The Prisons spokesperson says the transfer was decided by the Commissioner General on security grounds alone and denies claims, reported without attribution, that the UPDF and police influenced it.
