A Sunday service at All Saints Church in Abim Town Council was called off after a physical altercation between Rev. Canon Richard Ongom and Waimer Ward LCII chairperson Innocent Oyoo, according to the Daily Monitor. Mr Oyoo said the cleric started the assault when he asked to deliver security and government messages, while Rev. Ongom said he refused because the request came without prior notice. Police said they responded to calls from congregants and are taking statements.
Disputed: Mr Oyoo says Rev. Ongom started the assault and links it to a land dispute, while Rev. Ongom says he only refused the leader the altar under church protocol and denies the land-dispute link.
