Security bans political messages and party symbols on Kabaka Birthday Run kits, Kampala

At a joint security briefing at Bulange Mengo, Buganda Kingdom security head Capt Christopher Lutwaama said runners in the Kabaka's Birthday Run whose kits carry political wording, party symbols or slogans would be turned away. Police said counter-terrorism and UPDF teams, in uniform and plain clothes, would be deployed along the routes and at Lubiri. According to The Independent, the ban follows criticism after runners sang National Unity Platform songs during the 2025 run.
