Speaker Among meets independent MPs-elect at NRM Secretariat over cooperation pact with NRM

According to URN, Speaker Anita Among met independent MPs-elect at the NRM Secretariat in Nakasero, Kampala, to bring them into a cooperation framework with the ruling NRM through a planned memorandum of understanding. The article reports that at least 62 of about 69 independents have expressed interest; Among told them they remain legally independent but would receive the same benefits as NRM members once they sign. Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi cautioned that such arrangements must be transparent and voluntary.
