Students allegedly assault fellow student accused of being gay at Makerere's Mitchell Hall

According to a Makerere University suspension letter cited by ChimpReports, a group of students allegedly assaulted a fellow student at Mitchell Hall, accusing him of being gay, and destroyed his and university property; police intervened. Witnesses said live bullets were fired during the clashes. On 24 October the Vice Chancellor suspended one student pending investigations, and the university opened an inquiry.
