Protest & Civil Unrest Single source Kabale Oct 2025 (day not reported) Severity: 2/5

Nile Post reports that the nationwide strike by the Uganda National Teachers' Union, which began on 15 September 2025 over pay disparities between science and arts teachers, had halted learning in government schools in Kabale and Kisoro districts. The Kabale District Education Officer said no teaching was taking place and warned of likely dropouts, with some pupils reported to be working in trading centres. According to the article, the government says it cannot raise arts teachers' salaries this financial year, while UNATU says it will not resume work until pay equity is achieved.
