Three aspirants for Bukedea Woman MP removed from voters' register after parish tribunal recommendations

Election Related Disputed Bukedea 2025 (month not reported) Severity: 2/5

According to ChimpReports, Mercy Marion Alupo (NUP), Norma Susan Otai (FDC) and independent Hellen Akol Odeke were deleted from the voters' register, leaving Speaker Anita Among without a challenger for Bukedea Woman MP. NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi said the aspirants were never invited to tribunal hearings and that Among used the Electoral Commission and courts against them. In a High Court affidavit, EC Acting Secretary Richard Kamugisha Baabo said the deletions followed parish tribunal recommendations in Kopeta, Kolir, Kotolut and Kidongole and that the aspirants did not respond within ten days.

Disputed: Kyagulanyi and critics say the aspirants were never notified of hearings, while the Electoral Commission says it upheld tribunal decisions on evidence and gave them ten days to respond.
