UCC defends election internet shutdown, says social media and messaging apps remain restricted

At a press briefing at UCC headquarters in Kampala, Executive Director Nyombi Thembo described the shutdown as necessary and proportionate. He said general internet access had been restored but that social media platforms and OTT messaging services remained restricted under a directive to network operators and internet providers.
