UCC partially restores internet but keeps social media and messaging apps restricted

UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo told journalists in Kampala that telecom operators had been directed to restore essential services such as web browsing, email, news sites and financial services, following advice from the Inter-Agency Security Committee. He said social media platforms and messaging applications would remain restricted and warned that people using VPNs or online platforms to incite violence would be dealt with.
