Corruption & Abuse of Office Verified Kampala 2 Feb 2026 Severity: 1/5

On Monday, Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki Musiime sent staff an internal message saying the board would shortly advertise the Chief Executive Officer post, according to The Independent, which reports she has been sacked. The paper reports that her management has faced investigations, including a joint probe by the police Criminal Investigations Department and the State House Anti-corruption Unit into reports of mismanagement, corruption and abuse of office, and a board inquiry into alleged procurement malpractice. Bamuturaki and her team have attributed the airline's losses to jet fuel prices, aircraft leasing, spare parts and depreciation costs.
