Uganda Law Society says its representatives were blocked and removed from Ggaba Mobile High Court

Civic Space & Media Freedom Single source Kampala 2026 (month not reported) Severity: 2/5

The Uganda Law Society says its representatives were stopped from addressing the presiding judge about a human rights enforcement application during the trial of Christopher Okello Onyum at the Ggaba Mobile High Court, and were escorted off the premises under police guard. In a protest note dated 15 April 2026, ULS alleged that a Deputy Registrar acted on the direction of CID Director AIGP Tom Magambo and that staff were threatened with arrest if they returned. Security officers who spoke anonymously said ULS should not have tried to interrupt an ongoing trial.
