Civic Space & Media Freedom Verified Kampala 10 Mar 2026 Severity: 1/5

Uganda Law Society vice president Anthony Asiimwe told reporters in Kampala that the society had written to the Inspector General of Police demanding to know who commanded officers who backed court bailiffs evicting Muwema & Co Advocates from its Kololo offices on March 6. The society called the eviction malicious and a breach of due process given a pending appeal, and asked police and Downtown Investments Ltd to reverse their actions and apologise. Police had not commented by press time, according to the Daily Monitor.
