Workers' MP Abdulhu Byakatonda charged with obtaining money by false pretence in Kampala

According to Nile Post, Workers' MP Abdulhu Byakatonda was arrested shortly after his nomination and charged at Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court with obtaining money by false pretence. Prosecutors allege that in July 2019, as chair of the Departed Asians Property Custodian Board's divestiture committee, he took $220,000 from a businessman for properties that were not for sale. He denied the charges and was granted bail.
