Busia district chairman and rival candidate nearly come to blows at EC nomination venue

According to the Daily Monitor, incumbent Busia district chairman Stephen Mugeni Wasike (NRM) and independent rival John Charles Namayindi exchanged insults during verification of nomination documents and nearly fought before EC staff, the deputy district council speaker and police calmed them. The paper reports the Busia exercise was slowed by lengthy signature verification and network failures, and that one councillor aspirant withdrew after some of his supporters' signatures were flagged as unregistered voters.
