Busia security heads reject NUP's proposed town venues for Kyagulanyi rally, propose Dabani site 5 km away

Civic Space & Media Freedom Single source Busia 13 Nov 2020 Severity: 2/5

At a harmonisation meeting at the Busia district council hall, security heads led by deputy RDC Paul Kalikwan turned down three town venues and a party office opening proposed by NUP for presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, saying they threatened security and business. The officials instead proposed Mayombe Olympic playground in Dabani sub-county, about 5 km from town. NUP's district campaign manager said supporters could not reach the site, and a regional NUP official accused security agencies of partisanship.
