According to Masaka Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr Deusdedit Ssekabira was taken from his office in Katwe, Masaka City, on 3 December by men in army uniform travelling in a van, and church and family efforts to locate him through security agencies were unsuccessful. In a statement dated 14 December, the UPDF said the priest had been arrested for alleged involvement in violent subversive activities, was in lawful custody, and would be charged in court; it did not give the date of arrest. The diocese's lawyer said the Church had instructed lawyers to file a habeas corpus application.
