High Court dismisses Nalubowa petition, upholds Nameere as Masaka City Woman MP after recount

According to the Daily Monitor, the High Court dismissed an election petition by NUP's Rose Nalubowa against State Minister Justine Nameere, who was declared Masaka City Woman MP after a court-ordered recount reversed the initial result of the 15 January 2026 election. The petitioner alleged irregularities in the recount, including compromised ballot boxes and the exclusion of nine polling stations; the judge found the recount lawful and that the alleged irregularities were not shown to have substantially affected the result. Costs were awarded against the petitioner.
