Parties in Hellen Nakeeya's petition challenging the election of State Minister for Water Aisha Ssekindi as Kalungu District Woman MP closed their evidence before Justice Bernard Namanya at the High Court in Masaka. Nakeeya, the former NRM candidate, testified that violence against her supporters and vote rigging affected the January 15 poll, while Ssekindi denied the allegations. The judge directed both sides to file final submissions by October 1 and 8 before he gives directions on judgment.

Disputed: Petitioner Nakeeya alleges violence, bribery and vote rigging; Ssekindi denies any electoral irregularities and the respondents dispute the authenticity of the photographic evidence.
