High Court in Rukungiri sets 16 December judgment date in Turinawe petition against Tumukunde's election

According to the Daily Monitor, the High Court in Rukungiri, presided over by Justice Richard Wejuli Wabwire, fixed 16 December 2026 for judgment in an election petition challenging Lt Gen (Rtd) Henry Tumukunde's win of the Rukungiri Municipality parliamentary seat. The petitioner, Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe of PFF, who came second in the January 15 election, alleges irregularities and told reporters the Electoral Commission wrongly declared Tumukunde the winner. Tumukunde's legal team declined to comment on the pending case.
