Rukungiri High Court begins hearing PFF candidate's petition against Gen Tumukunde's election as MP

The High Court in Rukungiri began hearing an election petition by PFF candidate Ingrid Kamateneti, who asks the court to nullify the election of NRM's Gen Henry Tumukunde as Rukungiri Municipality MP and challenges the Electoral Commission's declaration of his win. According to the Daily Monitor, both sides raised preliminary objections, and Justice Richard Wejuli Wabwire adjourned the case to October 8 for cross-examination of witnesses. Gen Tumukunde's side declined to comment.
