IGG directs Jinja Southern Division mayor and 21 officials to refund Shs33.7m in allowances

The Inspector General of Government directed the outgoing mayor of Jinja Southern Division, Nasser Ashiraf, and 21 councillors and staff to refund about Shs33.7 million paid to them as allowances for supervising government projects. According to an IGG statement, there was no written evidence that the supervision took place, and the officials agreed during investigations to pay the money back. The IGG said any official who fails to refund will be prosecuted before the Anti-Corruption Court.
