Independent candidate Bwire Robert Ngwabe informed the Busia District Elections Administrator in a letter dated 19 November that he was withdrawing from the Samia Bugwe South race, citing poor health and family pressure. The Daily Monitor reports that the withdrawal came days after UNEB flagged anomalies in the academic documents he submitted at nomination. The voter who raised the query said the health reasons were a cover to avoid embarrassment.
