LC1 chairperson and MP campaign agent killed in attack at bar in Wanale Sub-county, Mbale; five arrested

Police in the Elgon region said assailants armed with pangas, stones and sticks attacked the LC1 chairperson of Bubirabi Lower village at his bar at about 11pm on 25 December 2025; he died at a clinic early the next morning and three other people were seriously injured. Five suspects were arrested and held at Busoba Police Station. Police said the victim was a campaign agent for the Bungokho North MP and that allegations linking the attackers to rival political interests were under investigation.
