Mbale High Court allows withdrawal of Budaka election petition against three MPs and Electoral Commission

The High Court in Mbale, with Justice Issa Sserunkuma presiding, granted former independent candidate Michael Kamba Musangala leave to withdraw his petition against the election of Budaka County MP Moses Goire, Iki-Iki County MP Abdu Swaibu Kampanya, Budaka District Woman MP Noel Kataike Babula and the Electoral Commission. According to the Daily Monitor, the parties agreed the three elections stand and that Musangala meets the costs, which the respondents put at about Shs180 million. Musangala told the paper he regretted the withdrawal and maintained the MPs were in Parliament illegally.
