Masaka Chief Magistrate's Court orders vote recount in Kalungu West constituency

According to The Independent, Chief Magistrate Abert Asiimwe granted independent candidate Ismail Ssemakula Saaja's application for a recount in Kalungu West, where the Electoral Commission declared NUP's Joseph Ssewungu winner by 46 votes (10,106 to 10,060). The magistrate rejected Ssewungu's objection on jurisdiction, criticised the returning officer for refusing a recount before the declaration, and ordered the recount for Friday at the Grade One Magistrate's Court in Kalungu.
