Masaka court recount declares NRM's Justine Nameere Masaka City Woman MP, overturning EC result

A three-day vote recount presided over by Masaka Chief Magistrate Albert Asiimwe, concluded on Sunday night, declared NRM candidate Justine Nameere the Masaka City Woman MP, reversing the Electoral Commission's earlier declaration of NUP's Rose Nalubowa, according to The Independent. The magistrate found tallying errors by the Returning Officer and set aside 10 ballot boxes with inconsistencies, invalidating 1,358 votes. Nalubowa called the outcome a mockery of democracy and said security operatives had been deployed around the process.
