Masaka High Court grants bail to Fr. Deus Ssekabira in Shs 500m money laundering case

Justice Victoria Nakintu of the Masaka High Court granted bail to Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Deus Ssekabira, who is charged with money laundering involving Shs 500 million, rejecting the prosecution's argument that the court lacked jurisdiction. The court set cash bail of Shs 15 million and ordered him to surrender his passport. According to ChimpReports, he was arrested during the 2026 election campaigns, and President Museveni had earlier linked the arrest to the priest's alleged political activities with NUP candidate Robert Kyagulanyi.
