Masaka High Court hears bid to bar Jet Tumwebaze from acting as own lawyer in Mawogola North petition

Justice Thomas Ochaya of the High Court in Masaka heard arguments on an application by lawyers for Mawogola North MP Aine Godfrey Kaguta (Sodo) seeking to stop lawyer Jet Tumwebaze from representing himself in his election petition, and set 7 October for a ruling. According to the Daily Monitor, Tumwebaze argued that barring him would infringe his constitutional rights, while opposing counsel cited a conflict of interest. The court fixed 12 October for the start of the main petition, which alleges bribery and vote rigging and challenges Kaguta's academic qualifications.
