Masaka High Court hears Mawogola North election petition against MP Sodo Aine Kaguta

Petitioner Jet Tumwebaze asked Justice Thomas Ocaya Ojele of the High Court in Masaka to let him argue his petition against Mawogola North MP Sodo Aine Kaguta alongside his lawyers, a request opposed by the respondent's lawyers; the judge has not yet ruled. Tumwebaze also pursued an application to exclude one of Sodo's lawyers over an alleged conflict of interest, which the court fixed for hearing on 23 September. The petition alleges violence, ballot stuffing and UPDF involvement in the 15 January election and questions Sodo's academic qualifications, allegations Sodo's camp dismisses.
