Ministry asks police to stop investor clearing Kifu Central Forest Reserve, Mukono

Environmental Issues Verified Mukono 18 Nov 2025 Severity: 3/5

In a letter dated 18 November to the Inspector General of Police, the Ministry of Water and Environment's acting permanent secretary John Twinomujuni asked for police to be redeployed to Kifu Central Forest Reserve. He said vehicle dealer Victorious Car Bond, which holds a title for 114 hectares of the reserve, was clearing up to 15 acres a day after police were withdrawn. The ministry says the title was issued in error and is challenging it in court; the company and police did not comment to the Daily Monitor.
