Policy & Legislation Verified Mpigi 2026 (month not reported) Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, Mpigi District authorities agreed to lift a temporary suspension of sand mining and transport in Kituntu Sub-county after a meeting with miners and other stakeholders over road damage, dust, reckless driving and revenue losses. District Chairperson Peter Kawuki said trucks would be restricted to one designated route and operators had agreed to install speed humps and contribute to road maintenance under the district engineer's supervision. Kawuki warned mining could be halted permanently if operators failed to comply.
