NRM mobilisers in Rukungiri allege Peace Rugambwa campaign team staged fake opposition defectors

A group of NRM mobilisers from districts in southwestern Uganda, including Rukungiri, alleged that the campaign team of senior presidential advisor Peace Rugambwa hired people to pose as opposition defectors and printed counterfeit FDC and NUP membership cards during the 2026 election campaign, according to The Observer. The mobilisers also said they were not paid sums promised for their work and appealed to President Museveni to intervene; Rugambwa did not respond to calls before publication.
