NRM's Boaz Kansiime Matiita declared Rukungiri Municipality mayor, ending decades of opposition leadership

Returning Officer Namara K. Abas declared NRM's Boaz Kansiime Matiita the winner of the Rukungiri Municipality mayoral election, with 5,759 votes to 5,126 for PFF's Denis Ngabirano and 88 for JEEMA's Okito Barikudembe. According to ChimpReports, the municipality had been led by FDC's Charles Makuru since 1996, and the NRM won all the top elective posts in the district in 2026.
