NUP supporters and backers of independent Woman MP candidate fight at campaign rally in Buwama, Mpigi

According to the Daily Monitor, a campaign event in Buwama Sub-county turned into a fistfight between supporters of NUP Mawokota South candidate Martine Ssejjemba and supporters of independent Mpigi Woman MP candidate Shallon Murungi Kaweesi. The paper reports the fight began when Ms Murungi and her supporters tried to join Mr Ssejjemba's procession, which some NUP supporters opposed because the party has its own candidate, Teddy Nambooze. The paper notes the Electoral Commission programme had scheduled both candidates in the same area at the same time.
