According to the Daily Monitor, a patient on life support at Rahma Medical Centre in Nyendo Township, Masaka City, suffocated after police officers threw a teargas canister into the ward during the protests. Greater Masaka police spokesman Muhammad Nsubuga blamed the region's deaths on protesters, saying they provoked security personnel.
