PFF ward council candidate and companion beaten by unidentified group in Rukungiri Municipality on eve of polls

A PFF candidate for Kigaga Ward councillorship told a press conference that a group blocked his car with a vehicle and beat him unconscious as he returned from his candidate's home on 14 January, leaving him in hospital for three days with a broken arm. A 23-year-old travelling with him said he was also assaulted, threatened with a gun and tied up. The candidate said he suspected supporters of Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde; the Tumukunde camp did not immediately respond, and police said they were following up the cases.
