Police arrest human rights activist Sarah Bireete at her home

Police confirmed the arrest of Sarah Bireete, executive director of the Centre for Constitutional Governance, on 30 December 2025, Daily Monitor reported; police said the file would go to the DPP before charges. A UN Special Rapporteur communication says plain-clothes police and security officers took her from her home in Mukono District at about 3pm and held her at Nateete police station.
